Elder Care Services of DeKalb County has served older and vulnerable adults in the DeKalb County area for 35 years by providing valuable services. We are committed to this community and those who live within it, just like you. June 15th is the World Elder Abuse Awareness Day and we are looking forward to planning our second annual Strides for Change: An Abuse Awareness Walk to help support our Adult Protective Services Program (APS). Our APS program ensures older and vulnerable adults stay safe, secure, and supported within the community through investigative and intervention services. If an older adult or an adult with a disability is experiencing any type of abuse or self-neglect, then the APS program is available to support them.
Our walk of 314 feet will represent the number of abuse cases received by Elder Care Services during 2022. While supplies last, we will be providing each participant with a #Engage2Change swag bag and lemonade. This event is free and open to all individuals and is physically accessible to all. We encourage participants to wear purple for this event. Please consider attending this event and spreading the word. We would be grateful for community support of this event to bring awareness of this critical program and the survivors it serves.
